The formula for this calculation is from Methods of Modern Homebrewing, pages 210-212. The subscripts in the published formula should really be squared values. The corrected formula is:

GP = -16.7 - .0101T + .00117T² + .173TC + 4.24C - .0684C²

• GP = Gauge pressure in pounds per square inch (PSI)
• T = Temperature in degrees Fahrenheit
• C = Carbon dioxide concentration in volumes of CO₂

Basic carbonation reference for volumes of CO₂:

• Low: 2.0 to 2.4 - British beer styles
• Medium: 2.5 to 2.7 - Most beers
• High: 2.8 to 3.0 - American, wheat beers
• Over 3.0 - Some Belgian styles, wheat beers
